SELECTING YOUR FUTURE LEADERS

How many employers have already selected their upcoming leaders for their organizations? Have you identified enough to fill all slots for the future? If so, how did you choose them?

Though all companies/organizations should have a Succession Plan in place, many put off making specific selections until the last minute. Not wise! To add to that situation, just as many have NOT been providing any leadership training to those prospects. What do you suppose those strong prospects are thinking?

Statistics are clearly showing that these high potential employees are using Social Media to look for better job opportunities. Can you blame them? With these sluggish times over the past 4 years or so, companies haven't been investing anything into their employees. Of course, one fact is that it won't be the "poor employees" to leave. Instead, employers will be losing their best talent!

Time is ticking, and employers are wasting valuable time by not initiating some solid coaching or training, much less take the time to talk to these key people and "determine what support they need and want in order to move up the ladder." You need to listen and screen carefully in order to select your best candidates, and THEN invest in them.

Companies are discouraged on taking shortcuts on the training. Use professional experts in Talent Management to develop your key executives, and don't short change your future managers, either. These are the people that you want to propel your organization forward to produce successful results. Choose and invest wisely.
