WHAT DO EMPLOYERS AND EMPLOYEES LOOK FOR IN THE OTHER?

It is an interesting comparison when talking to employers verses employees as what each looks for in the other.  When hiring and in a job search, each has a list of priorities they would value in the other.  Let's take a look at how this compares to your priorities.

Employers obviously want hard-working and competent employees.  So if they have the skills and experiences, what sets one candidate apart from others.  Here are some traits sought in an employee:
  • Trustworthy and Honest are on the top of the list.
  • Pleasant personality, looking for those who smile (makes for positive work environment).
  • Dependable/Accountable for responsibilities
  • Flexible
  • Enthusiastic/Upbeat
  • Team Player
  • Good Problem Solver
  • Resourceful
As for Employees, they are not only looking for a "pay check", but they have their desirse for a good employer and business.  The traits they seek include:
  • High Integrity/Good Ethics
  • Respectful of their Employees
  • Invests in Employees with Training and/or Coaching
  • Provide Opportunities to Grow in the Organization.
  • Takes a Proactive and Progressive Approach to the Business (This leads to a healthy and thriving business.)
  • Communicates well with entire Workforce
  • Is Open-Minded
  • Trains the Leaders and Managers to supervise fairly.
Many job seekers relay stories of stern task-masters, who micromanage and refuse to listen to any ideas or suggestions.  There should be a mutual respect within any organization, which should lay a foundation for growth and successful results for all.  Make sure you are the kind of employer and employee that others value.
